From August 19th to August 21st, five urologists from Indonesia embarked on a significant journey to Shenzhen, China, where they participated in an intensive training program on the EDGE Medical Robotic System. This cutting-edge technology is becoming a pivotal tool in the future of minimally invasive surgeries, particularly within the realm of urology. The training is a crucial step in preparing for the groundbreaking Telerobotic Surgery event, which will be one of the highlights of the Urological Association of Asia (UAA) Congress 2024, taking place in Bali.
The purpose of this training is to ensure that Indonesian urologists are not only proficient but also pioneers in the rapidly advancing field of robotic-assisted surgery. During the UAA Congress 2024, a telerobotic surgery will be conducted, where surgeons at the UAA venue at BNDCC will collaborate in real-time with patients located at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, IGNG Ngoerah Hospital, and with Animal in Shenzhen, China. This will be made possible through the advanced capabilities of the EDGE Medical Robotic System, demonstrating how modern technology can bridge geographical distances in surgical practice
The Indonesian urologists who have been selected for this training are (From Left to Right)
The training in Shenzhen allows these urologists to familiarize themselves with the intricacies of the EDGE Medical Robot, focusing on precision, safety, and collaboration. The training also emphasizes the seamless integration of robotics with human expertise, as surgeons remotely control robotic arms to perform complex procedures with unparalleled accuracy. This collaboration between human surgeons and robotic systems is at the heart of the future of urological surgery.
As the countdown to the UAA Congress 2024 continues, anticipation builds for the telerobotic surgery event. The knowledge and skills gained by these Indonesian urologists during their training will be critical to ensuring the success of the live demonstration. This milestone event not only showcases the capabilities of modern medical robotics but also places Indonesia at the forefront of this innovative medical frontier.
Let us all extend our support and hope for a flawless execution of the telerobotic surgery event during the UAA Congress 2024, which promises to be a momentous occasion in the field of urology and robotic surgery
